Hey Zombie Lovers,

Back in April I started uploading a weekly webcomic by zombies, about zombies, for zombies. Since then the website has gone through a huge overhaul and I'm ready to accept a few new corpses into the field. Come check us out at Playing Dead Comic

Subject:World War Z Community
Posted by:samaside.

Nearly a decade after the end of official hostilities investigative journalist Max Brooks published his novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. It was his hope to offer a more personal look of the war that had been left out of the official United Nations Postwar Commision Report.

Countering the cold, statistical information presented by the UNPCR, the book was heralded with rave reviews not only in the United States where it was originally published but around the world. The raw interviews presented offer the human side of a war that was often far too in-human. The interviews represent a wide spectrum of survivors and provide a sample of the extraordinary survival stories common in the postwar era.

However, with Zack still a threat in numerous parts of the world, we cannot afford to forget the costs and struggles that came with this war. There are millions of zombies still stalking along the bottom of the ocean and Iceland still remains the worst infected white zone on Earth. There are still a great number of threats to the human race and we cannot afford to let another war break out.

worldwarz was created as an extension of the grand endeavours of Mr. Brooks. We would like to collect as many personal accounts, interviews, audio clips, photographs, illustrations, and video clips as possible to document the events of the war.

We welcome any and all to share their stories.

With your contributions, the war may never be forgotten.

What up Sounthern Californias! How sad is it that we haven't had a zombie apocalypse yet? This is extremely crossposted so forgive me for that but here's what's happening:

What: L.A. ZombieWalk 2006
When: Saturday, October 7th at 6:00 PM
Where: Starting at Hollywood/Vine, we'll head West down Hollywood, South down Highland, then West down Sunset until our poor undead dogs start barking.
What to wear: Plenty of blood, pale makeup, scars and wounds, funeral suits, scrubs, work or school uniforms if you've got one and can wash it without too much trouble, bridal gowns, clubwear, pajamas - we need zombies from all lurches of life!

A Handy map.Collapse )

That's a heck of a lurch but my motto is if it sucks we can leave. I figure afterwards I'll get dinner and drinks on the Strip somewhere, anyone's welcome to come along.

Sound good? Now spread the word! And join la_apocalypse for discussion and updates! Also!

Subject:One deadline passes, and another looms.

Submissions for Dead Letters' March 2006 issue have closed. We have some really good stuff lined up for that issue, including a wonderful cover by artist Vince Riley.

Even though you may have missed the last deadline, there's still plenty of opportunity to submit your work. Dead Letters 2.2, which will feature the zombie neo-classic, Alomal-137 Epidemiology Report, is due in June. Deadline for submissions to that issue is May 1st.

Subject:Looking for Lon.
Posted by:kosub.
Time:10:44 am.
For over a year now, I've been trying to locate Lon Miller, author of Alomal-137 Epidemiology Report. Bizarrely enough, he seems to have dropped right off the face of the internet with little evidence of his passage. Maybe he's dead. Maybe he's assumed a new identity in Bolivia. I couldn't say.

2006 marks the ten-year anniversary of Alomal-137's release. Now more than ever, I'd like to feature the work in Dead Letters, not just because it remains effective as a piece of writing, but because it's such a touchstone for online walking dead fandom. But without a way to find or contact Lon, I'm out of luck, because we'd need his permission to reprint the piece.

So I ask you folks out there: have you seen Lon? If you happen to run across him, point him my way, would you?

Subject:Dead Letters: The Magazine of the Zombie Apocalypse
Posted by:kosub.
Time:9:40 am.

March 2006 is right around the corner, so if you're thinking about submitting something to Dead Letters 2.1... .

The more submissions we get between now and the cut-off date of February 1st, (hopefully) the better crop of stories we'll be able to present. After its first issue, Dead Letters languished because we just couldn't seem to get an adequate volume of good material together for the follow-up. I'd really prefer that didn't happen this time around. So, please, if you've been thinking about writing a story of the zombie apocalypse, now is the time, not later.

I expect that the Fish-End Press site will be up soon. In the meanwhile, the submission guidelines are:

Hi! I'm a new member. I've recently discovered my undying love of zombies. My love of puns is not recently discovered. Unfortunetly my fiancee is phobic of zombies, so I have no one to bounce around the room with when I learn of a new movie. *sigh*

So instead of being patient like I know I should I went and downloaded the new movie, "Undead".

Boy am I glad I didn't spend $6.50 on a ticket to this thing.

This movie is great movie if you like bad special effects, endless cheesy joking, horrible acting, bad voice dubbing, aliens in a Zombie movie, did I mention horrible acting, a soundtrack that sounds like it should be in a video game...a really bad video game.

I'm sorry if I've dashed any hopes, but they shouldn't have named this "undead",
but rather "we're Australian and we got bored so we made this movie"

It is so sad when you walk around with your father in matching Zombie Bunny tshirts. ~sigh~ That is just a little less mortifing as to when we were the only two people in a late night showing of Return of the Living Dead battling out zombie quiz questions for a House of the Dead tshirt. I ended up beating him by about 1/100000 of a second.

Hi... this is my first post. I'm Leah and I like pretty much anything to do with zombies. So that's why I'm here :D

Anyway, I was reading through GMR magazine and this caught my eye in an article about American McGee(designer for such games as Alice and Quake II):

"City of the Dead (TBD): McGee is collaborating with legendary horror director George Romero on his next project, which he promises with be "the goriest game ever made."
